What is Driver CPC?
Under EU Directive 2003/59 every driver that wishes to
drive a vehicle with a gross weight exceeding 3½ tonnes is
required to qualify for The Driver CPC (Certificate of
Professional Competence).
The purposes of this directive are:
- To improve road safety
- To enhance driver professionalism
- To improve driver productivity
What are the requirements?
All drivers must undertake 35 hours of training every 5
years.
For LGV drivers the deadline for completion of the first
thirty-five hours is September 9th 2014
This is typically achieved through attendance at five

Qualification is by attendance only, there is no
